Volunteer with Historic Wallingford

Directly make a positive impact in your neighborhood! Historic Wallingford has several one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Simply fill out our online volunteer application to apply. If we don’t currently have a role that interests you or fits your skills, send us an email at info@historicwallingford.org and we’ll figure out how you too can help foster an awareness and appreciation for Wallingford’s history!

Currently, we are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are interested in helping us further our mission by serving as a:

Outreach Team Member

We are looking for friendly and outgoing neighbors to help promote our organization and upcoming initiatives at community events throughout the year, including but not limited to the Wallingford Farmers Market, Wallingford Parade, and Great Wallingford Bratwurst Festival at St. Benedict’s.

Tasks may include set up/tear down of table and materials, creating and distributing marketing materials, chatting with the public about our mission and initiatives, and selling merchandise. Training provided. Estimated volunteer time is 2 to 4 hours per outreach event.

Exploring Wallingford Together Tour Assistant

Familiarize yourself with early 20th-century Wallingford architecture and stories while touring the neighborhood. No public speaking necessary!

Tasks include supporting the tour guide by keeping time, holding pictures and other tour materials to share with attendees, and taking photos. Estimated volunteer time is 2 hours per tour. (Tours held June-August 2026)

Local History Researcher/Writer

Seek out interesting untold stories and share them with our audience through our blog and newsletter. Past examples include businesses from days-gone-by, neighborhood development trends, designated landmarks, and family histories. Bring your ideas or pick from our ongoing list.

Tasks include completing research with support from our team, writing features and assembling photos, and conducting interviews (if applicable). Training on archival research methods and databases provided. Estimated volunteer time is 2 to 8 hours per story.

Social Media Team Member

Flex your social media skills by helping us connect with our online communities on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Work collaboratively with our Social Media Manager to share unique content featuring stories and photos of the neighborhood, share neighborhood news via reposts, and promote the organization’s activities and supporters.

Tasks may include attending a monthly meeting, basic research, taking photos, and coordinating with project teams to promote ongoing activities. Training provided. Estimated volunteer time is 2 to 4 hours a month.

Committee Team Member

Looking for something a bit heartier, without the commitment of joining the board? Dive into the Finances, Development, or Recruitment committee to learn more about how our organization functions and help us steer the ship into our second decade!

Tasks include attending a monthly meeting, learning about the committee’s responsibilities, contributing to the committee’s success, and assisting with committee-specific projects related to Finances, Development (Fundraising), or Recruitment. Estimated volunteer time is 2 to 4 hours a month.

Board Member

Join our governing board and lead with other community members who are passionate about their neighborhood and its history. Please visit our Board Recruitment page for more information and instructions to apply.
