This guided exploration is a spin-off of our popular Exploring Wallingford self-guided tours from 2022 to 2024 that spotlighted a range of places in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood that touch on art, architecture, history, and nature.
Led by architectural historian and designer Thomas Veith and public historian Sarah Martin, the tour will focus on the residential area around and south of Wallingford Center at 45th & Wallingford and discuss the development and history of the neighborhood.
This tour is offered three times. Advance registration and a small $10 fee is required.
1. Saturday, June 20 at 11 AM
2. Saturday, July 18 at 11 AM
3. Tuesday, August 18 at 6 PM

The tour is no more than 1.5 hours and at a leisurely pace. The route is along public sidewalks and streets with moderate inclines.

What to Expect
After a brief introduction from your guide, you’ll set off to explore residential Wallingford. Over the course of several blocks, you’ll cover more than a century of history, focused on the neighborhood’s development as a streetcar suburb in the early 20th century.
Historic Wallingford wants this to be an enjoyable small-group experience, so we limit each group to a maximum of 16 participants.
Strollers welcome, but no dogs please.
Suggestions
1. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
2. Wear a hat or sunscreen for sun protection.
3. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
