Good Shepherd Center
Hosted by our friends at Historic Seattle, this event takes place at one of Wallingford’s oldest and most iconic historic properties. Please see Historic Seattle’s website for additional information and to register.
For over 40 years, Historic Seattle gardeners have maintained and enhanced the Good Shepherd Center (GSC) grounds and gardens, fostering a feeling of refuge which invites visitors to relax and explore. On this tour, you’ll walk the GSC grounds with Lead Gardener Tara Macdonald to learn about its early 1900s origins as part of a refuge for young women in crisis, the 1970s community fight to preserve the GSC, and current efforts to maintain the historic gardens while embracing ecological awareness.
