Join us for an evening with author Kathryn Rogers Merlino, University of Washington associate professor of architecture, as she discusses her book Building Reuse: Sustainability, Preservation, and the Value of Design. Register below!

In her book she argues for the environmental benefit of reusing buildings rather than tearing them down and building anew. By tearing down old buildings, we throw away the energy embodied in them. Rogers Merlino argues that this is contrary to our values as environmental stewards of the community.

For more about Rogers Merlino’s book, check out this review that our friends at the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation recently published.
